Tirta Gangga's best-loved feature is the row of stepping stones set into the main pond, letting you walk out across the water between the koi. It's the shot everyone comes for, and picking your way from stone to stone with fish darting below is half the fun. Take it slow - the stones can be slick.
Built by the last king of Karangasem, the water palace still carries a calm, regal feel. Tiered fountains bubble and spill between manicured lawns, statues, and ornamental ponds that roll toward the hills behind. It's green, peaceful, and endlessly photogenic - one of East Bali's most underrated stops.
The ponds are full of large, well-fed koi that gather wherever people stop. Fish food is usually available, and feeding them is a hit with kids and adults alike. This is a place to wander unhurried, find a shady bench, and let the sound of running water do its work.
