Tegenungan Waterfall

A powerful jungle waterfall with a natural swimming pool, minutes from Ubud.

The Experience

Tegenungan Waterfall, Bali
The Waterfall

A Wall of Jungle Water

Tegenungan drops in a wide, powerful curtain through the jungle just south of Ubud - one of the island's few big waterfalls you can reach without a long trek. The roar, the spray, and the green cliffs on either side hit you the moment you reach the bottom. It runs all year and is at its most dramatic in the wetter months.

The Swim

Cool Off in the Natural Pool

At the base, the river gathers into a natural pool where you can wade in and swim beneath the falls. It's cold, fresh, and exactly the reward you want after a morning of temples. Bring a swimsuit and take your time - the spray keeps the whole gorge cool even at midday.

Photo Spots & Cafe Terrace

From the top, viewpoints and a small terrace of cafes look straight across the falls - the easy way to take it all in before, or instead of, heading down the steps. It's the classic Tegenungan photo, and a good spot to rest with a fresh coconut while the group swims below.
