Munduk is a cool mountain village high in Bali's interior, with valley views running all the way down to the north coast. The crisp air and quiet lanes feel a world away from the beach resorts of the south. It's the heart of the island's highland coffee country, wrapped in green and often touched by mountain mist.
The village is ringed by clove, cacao, and coffee plantations, and we stop for a tasting and a proper look at how Balinese coffee gets from tree to cup. Walk among the trees, see the beans and pods growing, and sample local brews and herbal teas. Tasting costs are usually small and pay-as-you-go.
Beyond the tastings, Munduk is laced with walking trails, jungle paths, and hidden waterfalls tucked into the folds of the hills. It's a favourite for anyone who likes their Bali green and quiet, away from the crowds. The roads up are winding, so a stop here is also a welcome chance to stretch and breathe the mountain air.
