Melasti Beach

Turquoise water and white sand at the foot of a road carved through a limestone cliff.

The Experience

The Approach

A Road Cut Through the Cliff

You reach Melasti by driving down a road carved straight through a towering limestone cliff, with white walls rising high on either side. The descent is dramatic enough that the approach alone is worth the trip, opening up to sudden glimpses of blue sea below. It's a grand way to arrive at a beach.

The Beach

Turquoise Water & White Sand

At the bottom you'll find one of the cleanest beaches in the south - turquoise water, clean white sand, and calm conditions good for a swim. The dramatic limestone walls frame the whole cove, making it feel tucked away from the world even when the rest of the south is busy. There's plenty of space to wander and relax.

The Setting

Cliffs on Every Side

Melasti's limestone cliffs curve around the sand and out along the coast, giving the beach its sheltered, hidden feel. It's a favourite for a swim and a slow wander, with room to find your own patch of sand. There's little natural shade, so it rewards a bit of sun protection.
