The Feast

Seafood Grilled Over Coconut Husk

The star of Jimbaran is the food: fresh fish, prawns, squid and clams grilled over smouldering coconut husk, brushed with sweet-spicy Balinese sambal. The smoke drifts across the beach as your dinner cooks, and it arrives simply done and full of flavour. Pick what you fancy and it comes to the table hot off the coals.

The Setting

Feet in the Sand at the Water's Edge

Tables are set right on the beach, a few metres from the water, with the lights of the bay curving away into the dark. As the sun goes down the sky over the sea turns gold and pink, then the candles come out. With your feet in the sand and the waves close by, it's as much about the setting as the food.

The Warung

Where the Locals Eat

Jimbaran's beachfront is lined with seafood warungs, and not all are equal. We take you to a spot where locals eat rather than the tourist traps - honest cooking, fair prices, and fish that's genuinely fresh. Dinner isn't included, so you order what you like and pay as you go. A relaxed, memorable way to round off a day in the south.
