Through the Demon's Mouth
The heart of Goa Gajah is the cave itself, its mouth carved into a monstrous face you step straight through. Inside, a narrow T-shaped passage leads to ancient meditation niches cut into the rock and weathered shrines lit by oil lamps. Dating to around the 9th century, it's one of Ubud's oldest and most atmospheric sites - cool, dim, and heavy with age.
