The reward at the top of the Batur sunrise trek - a warm breakfast on the caldera rim, looking straight across the volcano and its lake.
Once you reach the top, you settle in at a simple viewpoint warung looking straight out over Mount Batur and the crater lake below. With the sun fully up and the clouds still drifting through the valley, it's one of the finest breakfast views in Bali - and a well-earned reward after the climb.
A local touch: eggs and bananas gently cooked in the natural volcanic steam rising from the crater, served warm with tea or Bali coffee. It's a small, memorable ritual - proof that the mountain under your feet is still very much alive.
There's no rush here. Take your time over breakfast, grab your photos of the sunrise-lit caldera, and simply enjoy the quiet before the island fully wakes up. When you're ready, the walk back down is easy and mostly downhill.
